The Emotion Voyager
The hills in the background symbolize both the horizon to be traversed and the boundary of her comfort zone.
One of the most significant elements in the image is the hat, the faithful companion on any adventure and journey. It represents curiosity and exploration. Wherever we are, genuine curiosity - the desire to know without judgment - moves us forward beyond any border, emotional or otherwise.
The three stages of the image represent an inner journey through emotions:
- Guilt - The first stage signifies the weight of responsibility and guilt for not being the daughter her mother expected. Despite that, the decision to leave was made. Black and white colors denote the weight of responsibility and inner conflict of leaving one's family to follow an individual path.
- Pain - The second stage reflects the emotion she tried to hide. The black color is indicative of the depth of pain and intense psychological suffering. The stage depicts the struggle of dealing with inner wounds in the midst of the conflict between staying and leaving.
- Consciousness - The final step is the realization of being fully present, knowing self, others, and the world around them. Consciousness is a clear and transparent knowing regarding reality, including a deep understanding of one's experiences, emotions, and behaviors. Blue lettering reminds us of clear water - transparent and deep, where one can see the bottom without obstruction.
The transition from black and white to color signifies that everything emotionally is transient. Even the worst of times will disappear if we open ourselves up to self-awareness, allowing ourselves to feel each emotion without suppression.
This work it is a visual representation of the journey to self-discovery - wherever we go, wherever we stay.
